About
I’m a journalism student in Montréal, building a bilingual reporting practice in French and English. I’m coming back to journalism after a long career elsewhere.

A different path to journalism
I first worked in journalism in 2000 and 2001, as a cultural journalism intern at Le Quotidien and Le Progrès Dimanche in Chicoutimi, Québec.
I then spent more than twenty years outside journalism: technology, entrepreneurship, business development and management. I co-founded three companies developing artificial-intelligence solutions for healthcare, with teams that included physicians and researchers.
I went back to university for a multidisciplinary BA, with minors in psychology and criminology and substantial coursework in law and sociology. I’m now pursuing graduate journalism studies at Université de Montréal.
What I bring to reporting
- Technology
- More than a decade working inside technology businesses, including AI applied to healthcare, gives me a practical understanding of how technologies are built, sold, funded and implemented.
- Human behaviour
- My studies in psychology help me approach stories through cognition, behaviour, decision-making and the ways people understand the systems around them.
- Crime and institutions
- My training in criminology, along with coursework in law and sociology, shapes my interest in justice, social control, institutional power and the people affected by them.
- Business and systems
- Years in entrepreneurship, management and business development taught me to follow incentives, organizational structures, money and the gap between how systems are described and how they actually operate.
